About

I’m wife, mother and grandmother who has had various unplanned encounters with animals that I will share here on Splendippity.  Throughout my life, I’ve had many animals cross my path.  While a fair share of them were dogs, I’ve had a variety of other animals as well, both domestic and wild, wander into my yard and life.  I never realized that this was unusual, in fact for many years I thought such things happened to people all the time. When I would share a story about the latest animal to show up and people would act like it was odd, I assumed it was happening because of where I lived.  I thought that maybe I just lived in an area where people did not control their animals well.   In 1997 when my husband and children and I moved to a new home I remember telling them, “Well, this should put an end to our strange animal adventures”.   Three weeks later there was an ostrich in my front yard.  To learn more, click here:  Cross My Path

Of course there is more to life than stories about the various animals that randomly appear in my yard so I will also be writing about some of those things as well; about the random things that just happen; just as the animals just happen.

Why Splendippity?  Because it came to me when I was sleeping.  What does it mean?  It’s a word I literally dreamt up that means splendid serendipity. But to make this work for my blog, I had to spell it with a pp instead of a p.   So who knows…..maybe I didn’t make it up alone, maybe there were other forces at work. Either way….I like it and I hope you do too.

  2. Oh my gosh, how have I blogged for five years and never ‘run’ into you before? Thank goodness you commented on my last post. I LOVE the name of your blog and the reason behind it. Can’t wait to follow and read your posts. I totally believe that we can communicate with animals in a myriad of different ways – and they return that communication back in loving kindness.

  3. Lorrie, I live out in the country and have a lot of crazy animal stories….right now we are trying to evict a couple of skunks from under our livingroom floor….I don’t know which smell is worse….skunk or mothballs! Love your writing…will be following you.

    • I’m sorry I didn’t leave a response, but I read that you were going to be busy and unable to respond. I just wanted you to know that I did read your post and sent my sympathies.
